Almost 160 walkers representing companies from; Stent, Galliford, Costain, Skanska, Stent Foundations, Lafarge Contracting, Bowmer and Kirkland, CJ Associated, Rand Group, Midas Construction, Bowmer & Kirkland, Byrne Group, CJ Associates, Clugston Construction, Conder Structures, CSBfs, Hall Construction, Keltbray Economis, Kier Regional, Multiplex Construction, and Robinson Design. The weather was ideal; overcast and cool. The challenge, to complete the three highest peaks in the UK, in 24hrs, had begun. Ben Nevis first, Scafell second and finally Snowdon, covering in total 26 miles (note: plus one extra mile for the new start), scaling over 11,000 ft and driving 10hrs between peaks. Whatever the goals, most were rewarded on route with magnificent views as the clouds parted from time to time. Few will forget the last half hour climb of the snow-capped peak of Nevis. An impressive £159,020 was raised by the participating teams (a significant increase on last year) for CARE International and their work. With every 95p in the pound going directly to where it is needed, these funds will make a very real difference to projects CARE are focusing on. "There was one big COINS / Challenge team working together with great passion and enthusiasm... It was wonderfully refreshing to see the sincerity, commitment and warmth of all involved, achieving a genuine win-win-win outcome. I am sure every participant had one of those 'never to be forgotten' weekends!" Tim Morris Director of Resources CARE International UK
